A great experience

First of all Sanborns is the Gold Standard of Mexican Auto Insurance. Second and more important, it is easy peasy to do. I do it in my car on the way to the border. Then I take a screen shot (and label it so I can find it again) and am ready to go.

We've used Sanborns several times and find it simple and convenient. Now that we're in his system, we can just call Manny in advance and he can email the documents in advance. We don't need to even stop. You can't beat that!

So easy! And the Customer Service has been stellar! Doing it online has always been easy to do, but I was frozen out of my account and called for assistance. I have used Sanborn's many times, have always been fine with their service and rates. This time, however, I could not log on, so I called to get insurance, was charged (but it didn't show in my bank records for a while), and never got email or text confirmation of my insurance. I tried many times to contact them (unfortunately it was Thanksgiving Day) and ended up going across the border without proof of insurance. I chanced it because I didn't want to pay twice, but it was stressful and time consuming.

I've been buying auto insurance online for many years and have always had great service from Sanborn's.

Prior customer. Purchased in person before. Great experience. Purchasing insurance during 4th July weekend was a mess. Their office was closed. No phone customer service. Will never purchase online again. The auto-fill portion of the website kept reverting to old car rental info. When I hit purchase, some info was correct and some was not. ZERO customer service available that day. Was unable to correct. Ended up paying for two days instead of the one that was needed. The system reverted to the prior purchase of two days. To make it worse, I left voicemail, and havnt heard from Sanborns as of July 11, 2021.

Sanborn's is currently one of the few places in the United States to get a Mexican car rental policy issued for a Mexican car rental in Mexico, with Mexican plates. Mexican law requires that you have 3rd party liability insurance, while actively driving in Mexico. Sanborn's offers the 3rd party liability coverage, please note, it is NOT comprehensive coverage! If you have the right credit card, that offers the worldwide car rental insurance, that covers the vehicle itself, check with your credit card company for the benefits and to get a printout declaring the worldwide coverage. Sanborns is accessible via phone and email, and are flexible to work with. Be advised, when using their policies, the Mexican car rental companies give you hoops to jump through to use the Sanborn's policy, as they require the vehicle information on the Sanborn's policy ON THE DAY YOU SHOW UP TO PICK THE RENTAL VEHICLE UP. So, this requires you to be in touch with the Mexican car rental company BEFORE you pick up your vehicle, to get this information onto the policy. Do a little planning in advance of your trip, and you can get good coverages and support for your Mexican trip. Tenga una buena viaje!

I stopped by Sanborn's Mexican Insurance so I'd be covered in north Baja.

A lot of people don't know this, but although your U.S.-based car insurance most likely covers you and your vehicle if something happens while you're in Mexico - the Mexican police DO NOT accept this as proof of financial responsibility. So, you may "think" you're covered, but end up in a Mexican jail until you bail yourself out with "fines".

A policy from Sanborn's provides proof of "financial responsibility".

My Mom used to say, "Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it." I guess this applies here.

Emanuel is very friendly and offers excellent, solid coverage - whether it be for the day, a couple of days or an annual policy (which is the way to go if you visit Mexico frequently).
